What to expect.

Before any photography happens, I take half an hour to get to know you, either over a coffee, or over the phone.... even over email if you are strapped for time. Understanding a little bit about your personality and those within your family helps me to get a grip on the story we are going to tell through your imagery. No two families are the same, so no two photo sessions are the same either!

But don't worry, if you just want to turn up, and not get too involved, I can work my magic with very little input.

On the day, at your chosen location, your photography session could last from 45 mins to two hours depending on your requirements. I like to take a relaxed approach - the more fun you and your kids can have, the better the outcome for everyone!

The best way to ensure a happy, relaxed couple of hours is to be well prepared!

Some good ideas to make sure you arrive unstressed and ready to go include:
- Make sure everyone gets a good nights sleep the night before your session.
- .Have your clothes agreed on and laid out the night before.
- Try to leave home half an hour early, so if parking is problematic or finding the right location is tricky, there is no last minute panic.

Clothing choices can be hard, especially with a whole family to consider.
- Choose similar colours to each other and natural or warm tones.
- Try not to all wear the exact same colour, it can look a little unusual to be perfectly matched.
- Busy patterns and motifs/logos should be avoided at all costs, even on the kids.
- Shoes can be distracting if super bright or very dirty, so sometimes we opt for bare feet to keep things consistent.

For those of you with long hair, or kids with flyaway hair:
- Leaving hair out can create beautiful soft images, so don't feel you have to pull it off your face, however;
- A couple of hair clips in your back pocket can come in handy on windy days, especially for little kids.
- If you are keen on hair props like flowers, it is easiest to work them into plaits and braids.

Props and settings.
- When you have your briefing discussion with me, I'll talk through your options and preferences here.
- Images should reflect what you and your family love. If you little ones can't possibly leave behind their favourite teddy, that' fine!
- I will bring a couple of cosy blankets and options for you, so you can concentrate on just turning up and relaxing!

And finally...
My images focus heavily on the faces in your family. Clean faces are a necessity, so bring wet wipes along if you have babies or colds. Other than that, all we need are some smiles and laughter!

I shoot on location in natural light, not in studio settings, which keeps natural beauty shining through and lots of personality!
